This is one of the three paintings I have on display at Tour House in Kilmaurs as part of the group exhibition, “6 Artists”.

I created the painting last year after one of our winter walks in Glen Rosa on the Isle of Arran.  It was a  particularly cold day …..a far cry from my last visit a couple of months ago when we sat in warm sunshine at the same location for a couple of hours.  What a difference a few months make!

It’s a busy and exciting time to be in Edinburgh at the moment, but if you’re already getting a little over ‘festivalled’ and are seeking something a little different to do, why not visit ‘the gallery on the corner’.   In this small contemporary gallery, set on the corner of Northumberland St and Dundas Street, just a short walk from the city centre, you’ll find a wonderful selection of work by a broad range of artists.  It’s the perfect place to get away from the rush of the city and to enjoy some new and different art …..and maybe buy yourself something special.

I’ve been showing work at ‘the gallery on the corner’ since it opened in 2010 and as patron to the gallery I am, of course, going to be a little biased.  That said though, every time I visit the gallery I always get a really good feeling about it.  It’s bright and welcoming and friendly ….and above all, there’s always a really interesting and exciting selection of work to see.

Here are images of the three paintings I currently have at the gallery, but to see the full range of artists work available, take a visit to the gallery itself.

As you’ll probably have seen, I’ve been working on several large graphite drawings based on our visits to Glen Rosa on the Isle of Arran recently.  This is a new painting I’ve just completed based on the same subject matter.  We had walked up to the head of the glen below Cir Mhor and The Saddle.  It was cold and grey with snow on the tops and cloud hiding the summits too.  Then, just as we were about to return, it filled in further and started to snow.  This continued all the way back down the glen.  It was certainly a taste of things to come …this was the Wednesday before the heavy snow arrived that caused so many problems on the island a short while ago.  The painting is away to the framer soon and it will then be at the studio should anyone want to come and see it for real.  I’ll let you know when I have it back and on the wall.
